Our programming has changed over the years from hosting exclusive kick off dinners to curated fashion panel events. Currently our staple events include model casting, a Media Launch / Opening Party, Business of Fashion Conference, Photo Shoots and a Runway Show.

Unlike traditional fashion weeks that often spotlight established designers and operate within an exclusive, high-gloss framework, SFW was built to be inclusive, accessible, and entrepreneurial. Our programming goes beyond the runway by offering hands-on mentorship, educational panels, networking opportunities and real-world mentorship that prepares participants to understand what it takes to run a business in fashion. We don’t just showcase fashion — we help build fashion businesses that are ready for growth.

Yes, SFW is a registered non-prfit corporation.

We love to work with volunteers! Every year we recruit volunteers to be part of our team. They get behind the scenes access to our events greeting guests, assisting models / designers and our HMU team. We typically need help with guest registration, setting up, tearing down, backstage and front our house logistics. We have produced events in Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver - the only fashion week to take place across multiple cities! Currently we are focused on Toronto but we are keeping our eye out for new opportunities to explore other locations!

Jodi Goodfellow is the founder and executive producer and Maria So is our Assistant Producer. We also typically have someone leading the Hair & Makeup (HMU) team, a Lead Photographer, a Lead Videographer and someone who manages social media. We also recruit an in-house media team and some really awesome volunteers!

SFW launched in 2014. We have outlasted many of the ‘bigger’ fashion weeks because quality is much better than quantity!

Jodi Goodfellow launched Startup Fashion Week™ out of a desire to challenge the exclusivity and gatekeeping of the traditional fashion world. Frustrated by the lack of accessible platforms for emerging designers, models, and creatives, she envisioned an inclusive, mentor-driven incubator that breaks down barriers to entry. With a passion for community, entrepreneurship and authentic storytelling, Jodi built SFW as a space where underrepresented voices could gain real-world experience, industry exposure, and the confidence to build sustainable fashion careers on their own terms.

We have showcased more than 130 designers since 2014.
